In 2013, the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs released an advisory on campus telling students how to defend themselves from sexual assault. The school counseled female students to deter attackers and potential rapists by . . . urinating on themselves. To gross out the rapists, apparently. Then if peeing your pants doesn’t work, the advisory encouraged women to say they were menstruating or had a venereal disease. If that still doesn’t work, maybe vomit.13

The outrage over this horrendous policy was swift and warranted. The advisory itself was posted during Colorado’s debate about banning firearms on all college campuses. (You know, because posting a sign that says “No Guns Allowed” is the best way to keep criminals from committing crimes: Come attack us! We don’t have any guns to stop you! Criminals typically follow the law, right? Obviously not.)

Fictitious claim: Gun-free zones keep people safe!

Facts liberals ignore: False. The radical Left ignores the fact that 98 percent of mass shootings in the United States in the past sixty years have occurred in areas where firearms are prohibited.14 (A.k.a. gun free zones.) Think about the most hideous examples of mass shootings in recent years. The shootings that have drawn the loudest cries of “gun control” from the Left.

Parkland, Florida. Gun-free zone. No guns allowed in that high school. Not even the Physical Education teacher Coach Aaron Feis, who was a certified security guard.15 He died protecting his students . . . because he wasn’t allowed to carry his firearm.

Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Gun-free zone. Not even concealed carry permit holders were allowed to arm themselves in that establishment, per state law.

Santa Fe High School in Texas. Gun-free zone.

Virginia Tech. A college. Gun-free zone.

Sandy Hook. An elementary school. Gun-free zone.

Sutherland Springs. A church. Gun-free zone.

San Bernardino, California. A holiday party in an office building. Gun-free zone.

The list goes on and on. The radical Left continues to push a dangerous policy that makes innocent people sitting ducks to criminals who know their easiest shot at getting away with rape, murder, or mass shootings is committing that crime in an area where nobody else is armed. And the radical Left ignores the facts.
